PIZZA WEEK: Butternut Squash Pizza

Bonniejean says, "Thinly sliced butternut squash, sage and walnut pizza on a wholegrain crust! (There is some gruyere cheese on it, but I'm sure it would be
just as delicious with the squash, sage and walnuts.) A spinach strawberry and balsamic vinegar salad to go with it. One of my favorite meals ever!"

This sounds incredible. Does anyone know if the butternut squash is cooked first and then put on the pizza to bake? Or is it put on the pizza uncooked?

Hi Elizabeth! Yes, it is cooked first: peel butternut squash, slice it up, put it on a slightly greased cookie sheet with lots of salt and pepper and bake for about 20 minutes at 350. Also, if I'm feeling like going all out, I'll lightly fry the sage leaves in butter before putting them on the pizza.
