Sticking To Your Resolutions!

Leah the Magic Knitter writes, "This is me after completeing the Changwon Tongil 5k race where I had a personal best of 33:03. I made a resolution on January 1, 2009 to become healthier and lose the 80 pounds I had put on over 7 years. Since January, I have lost 50 pounds. My last 5k race when I was 240 pounds was run in 43 minutes. By dropping 50 pounds and becoming active again, I was able to beat that by a full 10 minutes. For all those people who don't stick with their resolutions, I just wanted to say get up and move. You won't regret it!"

Before and After the Race

Before:

After:
Here's some exercising inspiration to kick off your weekend, from vegetarian runner Allison Dehner: "I recently ran in the Arizona Distance Classic 5K. Although I've run in many races I actually finished FIRST in my age group this time! See my totally rockin' score here (female age group 25-29).

"I was so excited. My wonderful husband ran beside me the whole time and pushed our 2 kids in the jogging stroller. As you can imagine we are a family who loves to be healthy and do things together. Also, note the attached, before and after pictures ... the after picture was taken after the race and the kids were ready to get out of the stroller! LOL!"

Thanks, Allison! The kids do look worn out, but I note that you and your husband look fresh as daisies!

Half-Marathon #5

Wallis sent this one in to get us all moving on a Monday morning: "Here is a pic of my husband, Joe, running his 5th half-marathon. He started running three years ago, and averages 20-30 miles a week. Last year he ran 1100 miles! He started running at age 43; previously he practiced yoga for 3 years. He still occasionally does yoga, but loves being outside in the fresh air, getting his blood pumping!"
